Summary

IFEU worked together with avantTime GmbH to create Germany's first municipal tool to calculate a personal CO₂ footprint for the City of Freiburg. This tool is the first component of the CO₂ diet project which is funded by the badenova Innovation fund. Other components, such as the information platform "Conscious Action" and the compensation platform "balanced living" were prepared by the end of the year.
The tools enables the calculation of personal CO₂ emissions for the following areas:

• At home
• Traveling
• Food
• Consumption

The tool builds on the existing CO₂ calculator of the Bavarian State Office for Environmental Protection which was updated and expanded. In addition eight German CO₂ calculation tools were compared using funding from the Federal Environmental Agency (Published June 2007).
