What is KlimaNet about?

The KlimaNet project aims at providing the necessary knowledge to start energy saving projects at schools. In those projects pupils, teachers and janitors save on average 5 percent on electricity and heat when they use those sources in a responsible way.
For this purpose the internet offers a lot of opportunities since it has already been used for an active exchange of school related topics.

The ifeu- Institute for Energy and Environmental Research- has been commissioned by the Ministry of Environment of the German Federal State of Baden-Wuerttemberg to construct a website on the internet.

The website contains among other things the following spectrum of contents:

Basic information on climate protection, energy and saving energy as well as sustainability
Practical help on starting and carrying out energy saving projects for example introductory strategies, a virtual school tour, recommendations for activities and the use of renewable energy sources
School material to promote the topic in class that can be downloaded and printed out
Presentations of successful project examples of schools and internet links to their homepages

In addition the website offers helpful material for the institutions that maintain the schools to support energy saving projects and also current information, calendar of events, important contact persons, additional literary references and of course links to interesting information.

Since 2001 this offer has been available for schools on the internet.
