Study on the evaluation of measures in municipal climate action is available

Against the background of scarce resources in municipalities, it is important to tackle climate action measures effectively and efficiently and to evaluate them in a standardized, objective and transparent manner. In the project “Instruments for municipal climate action work (IkKa)”, ifeu has analysed the central methodological issues in the evaluation of measures and developed proposals for the evaluation. In addition to greenhouse gas reductions, the possibility of municipal influence in various climate actions strategies also plays a role in the selection and prioritization of measures. The result is now available: a methodology for evaluating climate action measures. The results were implemented in the online-based software “Maßnahmen-Planer” (www.massnahmen-planer.de) to make the methodology as practical as possible for the target group of climate action managers. The underlying results and reports can be found on the ifeu project website.
In addition to the software and the underlying methodology, the project focused on greenhouse gas neutral administration. The Stage Backpack now provides municipalities with concrete tools for the topic (www.ie-leipzig.com/auf-dem-weg).
The project was funded by the National Climate Initiative (NKI) and supported by stakeholders from science and practice. The project was developed and implemented by the project partners ifeu, Climate Alliance and IE Leipzig.
