Determination of the Environmental Implications of BtL Fuels Production and Biogas Production
The production of synthetic fuels from biomass (Biomass-to-Liquid = BtL) is considered highly important in the medium term in order to comply with political targets. The biofuel quota legislation [Bio06] makes it obligatory for companies which use fuels in transport to increase the proportion of biofuels in diesel and petrol engines to 8% (in terms of energy) by 2015. This legislation designates “synthetic hydrocarbons or synthetic hydrocarbons obtained through the thermochemical conversion of biomass” as biofuels which are particularly worthy of funding.
