In this project, an analysis of the technically and economically usable potentials of heat recovery from wastewater at wastewater treatment plant sites in Baden-Württemberg for feeding into heat grids has been carried out. The work included a GIS-based analysis of the supply potentials at all wastewater treatment plant sites and of the heat demand of buildings in spatial proximity that can be supplied via heat networks, and a detailed analysis of technical development concepts at three wastewater treatment plant sites. The findings have been compiled into a selection of seven wastewater treatment plant sites with high heat utilization potential, prepared for public dissemination and transferred to a project initiation phase with the involvement of local stakeholders.
