Strategic development of the national climate protection initiative II

Background

Since it was introduced in 2008, the National Climate Protection Initiative launched by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety provides funding for projects, investments and concepts aimed at achieving national climate protection targets. This requires new approaches on many levels, amongst many stakeholders, and in many facets of daily life. The National Climate Protection Initiative therefore focuses on social processes and technological innovations in relation to municipalities, industry, consumers and education.

The establishment of the “Sondervermögens Energie- und Klimaschutz”, a special fund for energy and climate protection,is set to increase the amount of funding available through the NKI over the next few years. In the medium term, this would provide useful funding available to align the funding with the long-term vision of complete decarbonisation of our living environments.

Project objective

In the project "strategic further development of the national climate protection initiative: optimisation of the funding programme with a view on the implementation of national climate protection goals" the project team as well as a systematic analysis of the framework conditions for climate protection and energy efficiency has developed new support strategies and programmes and accompanied already implemented priority areas. Monitoring strategies were developed in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the funding schemes at an early stage. Special fields of ifeu were climate protection, the development of an Innovationsförderprogramms, as well as federal countries Exchange on issues of climate change on the continuation of the municipal climate protection approaches, the master plan 100%.
