An MRIO-type scenario model for estimating the resource footprint of Germany, the EU and the World

What are the raw material requirements for the energy transition in Germany and globally? What are the potentials for reducing raw material use by improving material efficiency in production and changing consumer behavior? To answer these questions, we have developed the environmental-economic model URMOD-3R. URMOD-3R is a multi-regional input-output scenario model for the regions Germany, the EU and the world covering the years 2010, 2030, 2040 and 2050. This paper presents the methods, data sources and assumptions used to build the model as well as selected results for illustrative purposes.
