3rd General Assembly Meeting on Decarbonising Buildings in Europe

Last week, ifeu welcomed its "iBRoad2EPC" project partners to the 3rd General Assembly Meeting in Heidelberg.
In the EU-funded project „iBRoad2EPC”, ifeu and its partners are working together to improve the energy efficiency of buildings in Europe, specifically on the decarbonisation of the building stock within the EU.

In the predecessor project „iBRoad“, a long-term concept for gradual renovations was developed, which was incorporated in the form of the "Building Renovation Passports (BRP)" in the new version of the EU Buildings Directive. As a follow-up project, "iBRoad2EPC" will transfer this long-term perspective to the renovation recommendations in energy performance certificates.

Together with project partners from eight EU countries, ifeu is developing and testing the concept and an online tool that energy consultants can use to add the additional information to energy performance certificates. Building owners thus get an overview of legal requirements that their building must comply with and recommendations for renovation measures with which they can meet the requirements and achieve a high efficiency standard despite gradual renovation.
In the international round at ifeu, the country partners reported, among other things, from their respective national support groups on the strategies for introducing iBRoad2EPC.

The trainings of energy experts on the use of the online tool developed in the project have been completed in all six pilot countries. Over 190 people participated in the trainings. Now the field test in the pilot countries can start and the iBRoad2EPC concept can be applied to real buildings.
