With the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG), the German government is supporting both refurbishment efforts and the construction of new, energy-efficient buildings. Together with its partners Prognos AG, FIW and ITG, ifeu has been evaluating the BEG on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) since 2022. This is to check whether the objectives pursued are actually being implemented in practice. The ministry has now published the evaluation reports for the 2022 funding year.

Evaluation results:

The 2022 funding year achieved significantly higher impacts than the 2021 funding year. These include increases in

  • the number of funding cases,
  • the gross investment volume and
  • the CO₂ savings.

The reasons cited for the increased demand, particularly for the promotion of individual measures, are the war-related energy crisis and the change in the Federal Government's guidelines.
