After the Municipal Heat Plan for Heidelberg was presented to the public on 26 September, the heat plan was also presented to the Environment Committee of the City of Heidelberg on 18 October and unanimously adopted. The plan now available represents the strategic basis for deriving the activities necessary for a climate-neutral heat supply by 2040 at the latest.

After about 18 months of processing, the heat plan for Heidelberg has now been completed and published. The consortium commissioned by the city, consisting of ifeu, EEB ENERKO and the planning office ebök GmbH from Tübingen, presented the heat plan together with the city and the public utilities at a public event on 26 September. About 200 people from the administration and many citizens took part in the online event, informed themselves and participated. (The ifeu reported on 29.9.)

On 18 October, the heat plan was also presented to the environmental committee of the city of Heidelberg and unanimously adopted. The municipal heating plan now available represents the strategic basis for deriving the activities necessary for a climate-neutral heat supply by 2040 at the latest. A detailed presentation of the inventory of the heat supply as well as a comprehensive potential analysis are the basis for the target scenarios 2030 and 2040 as well as the derivation of an action plan. An essential component of the heat transformation will be the expansion of district heating with simultaneous conversion to climate-neutral generation; other important fields of action are refurbishment of existing buildings and decentralised solutions with heat pumps.
