EnaTex – Kick-off for the BMBF-funded project in Jakarta

The panel discussion at the kick-off showed the importance of national standards for the Indo-Nese textile industry and emphasised the rightness and challenges of the energy transition in the industry. A delegation of German and Indonesian researchers and German companies also visited the companies PT SriTex Group and PT Harapan Kurnia on Java as part of the EnaTex project, where they also encountered great interest in transformative processes and defossilised production.

Indonesia is an important partner for Germany in the textile supply chain and a buyer of modern textile machinery. By 2030, the production efficiency of the Indonesian textile industry is to be increased through energy efficiency, among other things, and ecologically, socially and economically sustainable textile production is to be established. With regard to climate protection, Indonesia wants to reduce its GHG emissions by 26% from 2020 and almost double the share of renewable electricity to 23% by 2025. In the project, technical innovations and measures are developed and optimised and evaluated according to their impact on energy efficiency and CO2 emissions.
