Further development of the Climate Protection Plus funding programme

Climate Protection Plus is a funding programme from the state of Baden-Württemberg, which has been republished each year since 2002. In recent years, dynamism has increased in the development of funding programmes, both at a federal and a state level. In the context of the project, checks are made for the new funding period to see how the Climate Protection Plus programme can usefully support and underpin other funding programmes.

Important policy developments have occurred throughout the duration of the funding programme. In 2013, the Climate Protection Act was passed. In 2014, under Article 6 of this act, the state government passed the Integrated Energy and Climate Protection Concept (IEKK), which listed important objectives, strategies and measures for the achievement of climate protection targets. The task in relation to the further development of the Climate Protection Plus was therefore to check the current funding approaches and conditions as regards compatibility with the state’s climate protection targets. Analysis was therefore undertaken as to how the funding programme’s basic objective of initiating investment measures either directly or indirectly matched the targets defined in the IEKK, and/or supported the achievement of objectives.
