Mapping of the Anthropogenic Layer V
Strategy development for a national urban mining process
With the German Resource Efficiency Programme (ProgRess III), the Federal Government has set itself the task of presenting an urban mining strategy. The aim is to secure the exploration, development and extraction of anthropogenic deposits, as well as the processing of the secondary raw materials obtained, right through to their reuse, and to expand the secondary raw material base for a circular economy.
The KartAL V project aims to prepare the urban mining strategy for political implementation in close cooperation with the Federal Environment Agency. The aim of the research project is to produce a strategy document that will subsequently serve as a draft strategy for the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection.
The strategy developed should be able to guide and coordinate the medium-term actions of various actors for successful urban mining. The KartAL V research project ultimately represents the preparatory phase of the urban mining strategy and concludes the research series ‘Mapping the Anthropogenic Deposit’ of the departmental research plan.
