Sector targets 2030 and climate-neutral Baden-Württemberg 2040

With the State Climate Action Act, Baden-Württemberg has set itself the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040. The interim target for 2030 is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 65% compared to 1990. In this project, reduction paths for the individual sectors are analysed and then combined into an overall scenario that achieves the above-mentioned targets.
Relevant interdependencies between the sectors are taken into account (e.g. electrification/hydrogen and sector coupling, coal phase-out and district heating supply, CO2 sinks and technical emission reduction). Based on the necessary developments depicted in the target scenario, the central strategies for the respective sectors are worked out and targeted measures are developed. This also takes into account whether and to what extent Baden-Württemberg has room for manoeuvre for the implementation of the measures.
In the project, ifeu is working on the buildings, transport and waste and recycling management sectors.
