Ecological effects of sufficient living practices using the example of living space consumption

Master's thesis completed at ifeu, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg

Authors: Felix Girault

There are many ways to reduce one's own per capita living space and in different ways. These ways are defined here as sufficiency measures, each of which has different (mostly positive) ecological effects. In this work, an instrument was developed to evaluate these sufficiency measures ecologically using three indicators - global warming potential, land use of building materials and soil sealing through building development. These environmental indicators are used to illustrate the effects of sufficient living practices on various planetary boundaries using the example of living space consumption.
