Klimaschutzpotenziale der Kreislaufwirtschaft Baden-Württemberg (KlimKreisBW)

The research project ‘Climate Protection Potential of the Circular Economy in Baden-Württemberg’ (KlimKreisBW) used the life-cycle assessment method in waste management to develop, for the first time, a way of comparing these potentials. Starting from the current situation in 2023, scenarios for the time horizons of 2030 and 2040 were derived against the backdrop of political and legal frameworks. Greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting was carried out based on material flows, with separate evaluations conducted in particular for material and energy recovery.
