This discussion paper presents the results of an analysis of the electricity consumption patterns of 64 prosumer households in Germany, which were scientifically monitored over a two-year period. The focus was on quantifying and investigating the solar rebound effect. However, the study also examined decision-making criteria for sizing PV systems, goals and self-assessments regarding electricity consumption, and the availability and use of technical options for load shifting (aligning consumption with generation).
