Greenhouse gas balance for health institutions - KliMeG calculator now online
In the NKI project Climate Protection in Hospitals by Optimising Supply Chains (KliOL), ifeu, in cooperation with the DBU-funded project Carbon Footprint in the Health Sector (CAFOGES), has created a harmonised greenhouse gas calculator for health institutions, which is now available free of charge.
The German health system is responsible for 5.2% of Germany's greenhouse gas emissions - at the same time, the consequences of the climate crisis are hitting the health system particularly hard. With 8 million employees in different fields, the health sector has a strong influence on changes within society and each and every one of them acts as a multiplier in this transformation.
The publication is made in cooperation with KliMeG, the Competence Centre for Climate-Resilient Medicine and Health Facilities.
