Preparation of recommendations for the implementation of the requirements under Art. 29-31a, Annexes V and VI RED III and Implementing Regulations (EU) 2022/996 and (EU) 2022/2448

As part of the revised Renewable Energy Directive (EU) 2023/2413, which amends Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (RED III), as well as the two implementing regulations (EU) 2022/996 and (EU) 2022/2448, adjustments to the national sustainability ordinances (BioSt-NachV and Biokraft-NachV) are required. These changes serve to fully implement the European requirements into national law.

ifeu and IKEM are supporting the legal implementation of these adjustments as part of the project. At the same time, the opportunity is being taken to improve and simplify the implementation of the sustainability criteria. The aim is to reduce obstacles, close regulatory gaps and clarify the requirements.

The project also develops proposals to optimise the procedure for assessing the biomass used for fuel production and to make it more transparent and sustainable. In addition, the project includes answering ad hoc inquiries from the clients on current legal and methodological issues related to the implementation measures required by RED III and the implementing regulations.
