REPAID at the BLE Innovation Days
In the session ‘Innovative ideas for disposable and reusable packaging to reduce plastic waste’, Benedikt Kauertz presented recommendations for action for the catering industry and an impulse paper for the federal government and local authorities. The two papers reflect the central finding of the project: restaurateurs cannot bear sole responsibility for making reusable packaging a success in the catering industry. For a sustainable packaging turnaround in the out-of-home consumption sector, legislators should provide further incentives and cities and municipalities should play a central role in the reusable packaging system, especially when it comes to implementing a take-back infrastructure.
