CLEVER: Creating Legitimate Emission Factors For Verified GHG Emission Reductions in Transport

The CLEVER project serves to standardize the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector - a decisive step towards achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. The focus is on providing harmonized and precise emission factors for different conventional and new energy sources. The entire life cycle of the energy sources is taken into account in order to avoid undesirable shifts of environmental impacts to other sectors. The involvement of key stakeholders (including fuel manufacturers, transport companies, NGOs and other users of the factors) ensures the acceptance and applicability of the methodology and the factors.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program under grant agreement N° 101146908.

Survey (participation until 1 September 2025)

We are asking anyone with a background in climate accounting, fuel and electricity provision and GHG accounting of transport processes (practitioners, policy makers, researchers and industry leaders) to take part in the survey (by 1 September). This will help us to develop a reliable methodology for reporting GHG emissions in passenger and freight transport.
